Cancer Prevention:  A Holistic Nurse Aromatherapist’s Perspective

About the Teleconference:
Prevention of cancer in today’s toxic world is a major concern, as more and more people recognize the importance of taking personal responsibility in avoiding the chemicals in their environment, food, water, etc. and making better choices. Valerie will share some staggering statistics regarding cancer and its prevention.  Prevention of cancer is now discussed as primary and secondary deterrence factors and she will explain them in detail as well as the key risk factors and cancer as a process.  Ways essential oils can be utilized to avert toxins the average person comes in contact with each and every day will be addressed as well as the chemical components and whole essential oils being researched for cancer prevention.

Meet Valerie Cooksley
Valerie Cooksley is a Holistic Nurse, Internationally Certified Aromatherapist, Certified First Line Therapy Lifestyle Educator, and a best-selling author of eight natural health books including Aromatherapy: Soothing Remedies to Restore, Rejuvenate and Heal and most recently, SEAWEED: Nature’s Secret to Balancing Metabolism,  Fighting Disease, and Revitalizing Body & Soul.  Ms. Cooksley is founder and president of Flora Medica, an aromatherapy and natural wellness company and is co-founder and Director of the Institute of Integrative Aromatherapy in Houston, Texas.     

Valerie was one of the first nurses in the U.S. to become certified in Oncology and was an educator for the American Red Cross and American Cancer Society.  Valerie has a unique nursing background in Oncology, Isolation/Infectious Diseases, and patient education as well as extensive training in holistic nursing,physiological regulating and biological medicine and a number of integrative therapies. 

Ms. Cooksley studied Botanical Medicine at Bastyr University, The International Training Program in Essential Oils/Advanced Studies at Purdue University, and Advanced Medical Training in Biological Medicine and Endobiogenic Concept under the direction of several holistic physicians from the U.S. and abroad.  She is Fellow of the American Association of Integrative Medicine, professional member of the American Holistic Nurse's Association, National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy, Educational Advisory Board Member to the Aromatherapy Registration Council and Editorial Advisory Board member to Massage Magazine.
