If flying in you should use O’Hare International Airport (ORD) or Midway Airport (MDW). All carriers fly into O’Hare. Midway is economy airlines and less convenient to get to the hotel. You may not have a choice though depending
on where you are flying in from.
Transportation from O'Hare or Midway
O'Hare - When we booked the hotel for the Conference they provided an airport shuttle service and we are sorry to learn they have discontinued that service. We have made arrangements with American Dependable Taxi & Limo who will provide transportation to the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn from O’Hare Airport.

- Tell Carrie you are with the AIA Conference
- Provide her with your flight arrival and departure information
- Give your name and phone number for confirmation
- Tell her how many pieces of luggage (or boxes if a speaker or vendor)
Plans and procedures for the transportion:
- Carrie will group people together and arrange for a car or minivan to pick you up at O'Hare and take you directly to the hotel. She will keep track and call you to confirm the pick-up time and location.
- When you arrive at the airport, please call Carrie and she will note that you have arrived and instruct you where to meet the car/van. When the last person in your group has arrived, and claimed their luggage, they will pick you up and depart for the hotel.
- The rate will vary depending on the number of people in the car/van so please check with Carrie.
- Estimates: A car for 1 person is $95 round trip (that is very good as a cab 1-way is about $75). A van for 3-4 people is $120 each way per group

Midway Airport is an option. It is close to 2 hours away from the hotel, however many of the economy lines fly there.

Those coming in from Midway have the following options:
Option 1: You may take the “Orange Line” CTA train into the city of Chicago and switching to the Union Pacific Northwest Line Metra train to Crystal Lake. The hotel can pick them up at the train (5 minutes away). Travel time about 1 ½ hours ($7.25-$13.35 one-way).
Train Services
Midway Airport is connected to downtown Chicago by the CTA Orange Line. Tickets can be purchased at the Midway Orange Line station ($2.25), which is conveniently located near the airport right across Cicero Avenue. The Orange Line makes stops throughout southwest Chicago and travels right into The Loop. For further information, call: +1 312 836 7000. Take “Orange” Line to the Chicago Loop (about 28 minutes), arrive at Washington & Wells, walk north on Wells to Washington and turn left (West) and walk to 500 West Washington to the Ogilvie Transportation Center (about 9 minutes) or take a cab (about $5). Take the Union Pacific Northwest Train service to Crystal Lake ($6.10 & $5 on the weekend). Pingree Station is closer to the hotel, but there are more frequent stops to the Crystal Lake Station. The hotel car can pick you up at either, just call them at 815-477-7000 when you arrive. Best to call from Ogilvie when you are leaving to give them a heads up on your arrival time so you don’t have to wait.
Option 2: Bus and Shuttle Services from Midway to O’Hare then use the American Dependable Taxi & Limo service we detailed for O'Hare, above.
Continental Airport Express shuttles leave Midway every 15 minutes and operate between 6:00 am and 11:30 pm. Travelers are picked up in front of the main terminal building. Continental Airport Express also offers shuttles to northern suburban locations.
Omega Airport Shuttle is convenient and inexpensive for traveling between Midway and O'Hare International Airports. Shuttles leave Chicago Midway Airport every hour between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm and travel to O'Hare International Airport. Travelers are picked up at door M1 at Chicago Midway Airport.
